For the 2027 Nigerian general elections, the latest INEC timetable initially provided these deadlines for submission of candidates’ nomination forms:
* Presidential and National Assembly candidates: 27 June – 11 July 2026
* Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates: 3 July – 8 August 2026
However, several Federal High Court judgments in May 2026 held that INEC cannot shorten the statutory periods provided in the Electoral Act 2026 and directed the Commission to amend parts of its timetable. As a result, the final enforceable deadlines may be revised by INEC.
If your interest is the 2027 Enugu State governorship election, the last date under the timetable, before the court rulings, was 8 August 2026 for the submission of governorship candidates’ nomination forms.
