Obinwannem News IPOB, MASSOB exonerate selves from killings of security officers in S'East

The current situation of attack over security officers and their facilities in the Eastern Nigeria, has raised alot of tensions in the region, lately.

Most people are seriously asking who actually is responsible for the killings of the security officers, and the motive behind the attacks. Others are of the opinion that it could be a calculated attempt to lay bare the security apparatus in the zone, and then launch attack on ordinary masses.

Notwithstanding, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, as both the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereignty State of Biafra(MASSOB) have insisted they are not responsible for the ostensible unrest.

According to leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, who condemned the act, insisted that it was not healthy for Igboland, stressing that those behind it, was doing so to create the impression that Igbo land was not safe for investment.

He stated, “There is no need for this, we don’t need to engage in war to achieve Biafra. We condemn what is happening in totality and ask the security agencies to rise to their responsibility, these people whoever they are should take the fight to government and stop destroying public institutions.

“We think the politicians are behind these people because the inefficiency in government, but whatever their grievances is, should be channeled to the government.

“Some of the policemen killed are Igbos (sic) and these are Biafran people. So, why would MASSOB, a non violent group be part of killing Igbo people? It is not possible, and we will never be part of anything that can cause violence in the country. Our approach has been civil not force,”, he said.

At the moment, effort to get the reaction of IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful proved abortive, but an official who insist on anonymity said, ‘IPOB is a non-violent group and has not been carrying arms. They should go look for the people killing their security in officials not our members, when they arrest them, we shall confirm where they are coming from”.

According to him, IPOB set up the Eastern Security Network for the aim of protecting lives and property, and cannot be taking the lives of those they claim to protect, stressing that, those who think they have right over others, have invaded the land for a very long time.

Ohaneze Ndigbo, however, condemned the development, saying it was a serious dent on the peaceful disposition the Igbos had maintained for sometime.
