Imo prisonbreak: Hired hoodlums committed the act, not IPOB – Uzodinma

Obinwannem News Imo prisonbreak: Hired hoodlums committed the act, not IPOB - Uzodinma

The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has divulged whom he labeled “hoodlums” were responsible for the ‘Imo prisonbreak’. He said the attacks were masterminded by aggrieved politicians of the State.

Regarding the prison break, Uzodimma had given orders to policemen in Imo State, to “defend themselves against members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB”.

Nevertheless, the governor specifically said APC (Al People’s Congress) detractors were determined to bring down the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd) by sponsoring attacks in Imo and Ebonyi States.

The governor revealed this on Wednesday, in a televised program, ‘Politics,’ on Channels TV, supervised by Obinwannem News.

Uzodinma stressed that the destructions of government facilities, were not carried out by the Eastern Security Network, but hired thugs by politicians, in the mien IPOB members.

However, the former Inspector-general of police had heaped the blame on Eastern Security Network (ESN), a regional security outfit set up by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on the recent attacks on police facilities in Imo state; which led to the release of over 1500 suspects detained in the facility.

Uzodinma said, “what happened in Imo state last Monday is unbelievable, A group of hoodlums, of course sponsored by some known politicians in Imo state, decided to destroy public infrastructure and government facilities, and attacked a correctional facility and also attacked a police state headquarters.

“But what is important is to take home is for Nigerians to know of the plot by a group of aggrieved politicians to destabilize the government of APC.

“I have done thorough investigation and I have a credible lead as to those who are sponsoring these activities of these hoodlums.

“We are working hard to ensure that the sponsors of these dastardly acts must be brought to book,” he said.

In addition, he affirmed, “They (politicians) try to identify grievances of people in a particular area. They hired hoodlums from outside Imo state. They bring them in pretending to be IPOB and they commit this crime and they go away.

“It is not about IPOB; yes we agree, we have aggrieved IPOB members. But I can tell you who are doing these destructions, most of them were brought outside the states,” said the governor.
