Obinwannem News Imo govt possesses Royal Palm estate 'owned' by Okorocha

Imo State government has taken over the Royal Palm Estate. The latter was said to have belonged to the wife of the former governor of Imo State, Nkechi Okorocha, established when Okorocha was the governor of the State.

The estate, located along Akachi road, Owerri (capital city), was confisicated in compliance with the directive of Imo State gazette in the report of the judicial commission of enquiry on recovery of lands and other related matters.

The panel was set up by former governor Emeka Ihedioha, and further embraced by the recent administration under the leadership of Hope Uzodinma.

Commissioner for lands, Enyinaya Onuegbu, who led the team that took over the estate said, it will remain sealed till further notice

He said, “This is as a result of the recommendation of the commission that all illegal lands and structures acquired by the administration between 2006 and 2019 should be taken over by the government.”

Onuegbu added, that the present administration will not relent in its effort, in recovering all “the stolen properties” of the state, especially those carted away by the previous administration.
