Ikwerre student bags 9 parallel distinctions as WAEC releases 2020 result

An identified Ikwerre student, Miss Ogwubie Chikemzi Praise, who hails from Choba community in Obio-Akpor local government of Rivers State, has gained astounding recognition across media as she made nine (9) parallel Distinctions [A’s] in her 2020 WAEC result.

The West African Secondary School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, which took place between August 17, 2020, and Saturday, September 12 had been released Monday despite delays as a result of the widespread revolt, that engulfed the country, following the #EndSARS protest.

Speaking to newsmen, the Director of WAEC Nigeria, Patric Areghan, disclosed that a total of 1,003,668 candidates, representing 65.24% of the total number of candidates that sat for the exam, “obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.”

However, the above statistics show a marginal 1.06% improvement in candidates performance when compared to 2019 WASSCE result where those who obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects including Mathematics and English language, were 64.18%.
