With just a couple of hours left for president-elect Joe Biden to be inaugurated as the 46th President of the US, outgoing First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) Melania Trump bode farewell to the nation, asking every American to “be passionate in everything you do; but always remember that violence is never the answer, and will never be justified”
In her farewell speech yesterday, Mrs Trump started by appreciating Americans that it had been “the greatest honour of my life to serve as First Lady of the United States”.
She emphasised on how Americans had supported their administration, and admired the selfless service of the military; expressing concerns for mother and children who have been through difficult situations healthwise.
“I have been moved by children I have visited in hospitals and fooster care centers, even as they fight difficult illness or face challenges, they bring joy to everyone they meet,” she said.
Melania Trump also sympathised with families who lost their loved one(s) due to the pandemic and encouraged Americans to be careful in protecting lives of the vulnerable by taking heed to vaccines.
She added, “As I say farewell to my role as first lady. It is my sincere hope that every American will do their part to teach our children what it means to ‘Be best’. I encourage parents to educate your children about the courageous and selfless Heroes who worked and sacrificed to make this country the land of the free; and to lead by example, and care for others in your community.”
FLOTUS ended her speech by advising Americans to unite as a National family. She said, “In all circumstances, I ask every American to be an ambassador of ‘Be best,’ to focus on what unites us, to raise above what divides us, to always choose love over hatred; peace, over violence, and others before yourself – together as one National family.”
