Igbo Ministers Slam South-East Governors Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention
Governors Accused of Playing “Chicken” as Clergy Demand Proactive Action
Enugu, Nigeria – The Concerned Igbo Ministers Commission has criticized South-East governors for their alleged nonchalance towards securing the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). In a scathing press statement, the ministers of God accused the governors of prioritizing their personal interests over the welfare of the Igbo people.
The clergy noted the stark contrast between the South-East governors’ inaction and the proactive stance taken by South-Western leaders in securing the release of Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba separatist leader detained in Benin Republic.
The ministers urged the governors to take a more assertive role in advocating for Kanu’s release, warning that their inaction may render them irrelevant. They emphasized that protecting Kanu is part of their oath of office and appealed to them to stand up for their people like their South-West counterparts did for Igboho.
