Human Rights Lawyer Demands Release of AAC Governorship Candidate and Peaceful Protesters

Temokun Condemns Arrest of AAC Governorship Candidate, Demands Immediate Release

Akure, Ondo State – Renowned human rights lawyer, Temokun, has urged Ondo State Governor and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately release the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, Ajayi, and other peaceful protesters arrested in Akure.

In a statement released today, Temokun condemned the arrest of Ajayi and other protesters, describing it as a gross violation of their fundamental human rights. “The arrest of Ajayi and other peaceful protesters is a clear infringement on their rights to freedom of expression, assembly, and association,” Temokun said.

The human rights lawyer demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the detainees, warning that their continued detention could lead to further escalation of tensions in the state. “The Ondo State Government and the Nigeria Police Force must respect the constitutional rights of citizens and avoid actions that could undermine the democratic process,” Temokun added.

The arrest of Ajayi and other protesters has sparked widespread condemnation from civil society groups and opposition parties, who have accused the government of attempting to stifle dissenting voices and suppress opposition.

As the situation unfolds, Temokun’s call to release the detainees has added to the growing chorus of voices demanding respect for human rights and the rule of law in Ondo State.
