According to a 20-page autopsy report released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, late George Floyd was tested positive for Coronavirus before his death.

Recall, that George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man died in Minneapolis, Minnesota after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes while Floyd was handcuffed face down in the street on May 25, 2020.

Obinwannem news gathered that two different autopsies has been conducted which confirmed that the manner of Floyd’s death to was a homicide.

Report from Hennepin County medical examiner’s autopsy confirmed that Floyd died from cardiac arrest during application of neck compression noting as significant conditions arteriosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease; fentanyl intoxication; and recent methamphetamine use”.

Another report according to the second autopsy, commissioned by Floyd’s family, confirmed that the evidence is consistent with mechanical asphyxia as the cause of death, with neck compression restricting blood flow to the brain, and back compression restricting breathing.

On May 29, Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, while the other three officers who were witness to the incident got fired.

However, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison amended Chauvin’s charges to include second degree murder, and the other three officers were charged with aiding and abetting second degree murder on June 3.

Further investigation is ongoing at the request of the Minneapolis Police Department , and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is also investigating by the FBI.

In reaction to Floyd’s death, demonstrations and protests against use of excessive force by police officers and lack of police accountability is happening globally, including Minneapolis–Saint Paul area.
