Gaius Chibueze has opened up about his relationship with the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, before he was sentenced to prison.
He said that he had met with Nnamdi Kanu in London before he was sent to prison and even had several conversations with him.
He said when Nnamdi Kanu started the movement for the actualisation of Biafra, he and some other people thought Nnamdi Kanu was going to use the method they had suggested was the best or wise.
Gaius said he sat down personally with Nnamdi Kanu in London and advised him to grow the political structure in ala Igbo. He said he advised Nnamdi Kanu when he had the attention of the people and the federal government to pick the best igbo people and place them in political positions like house of Assembly, House of representatives, or local government chairman, those who are people oriented, so they can do the real work of rebuilding the south east.
“I told him to put these people there so that when the time comes he can move a motion for referendum at the senate and the rest. I told him that what we should focus on is building the economic power of ala Igbo. I told him even if we want to go to war, we need money to buy weapons”
Gaius added in his comment that he was among the first people who advised Nnamdi Kanu in the best way to go but he left his side when he saw that Nnamdi Kanu has become so arrogant, too focused on destruction and self glorification. He said the whole issue became more of a personal goal than a movement to restore the economic growth of the South East.
