About five persons were killed following an attack on a mosque during prayers in Dutsen Gari village in Maru district, Zamfara state, as residents were observing the weekly Friday prayers.
In a report, the state police spokesman, Mohammed Shehu stated that five were killed while 18 others were kidnapped.
In another report, some residents stated that about 100 cattle thieves on motorcycles opened fire on the Muslim congregation, adding that 30 persons were abducted.
Ibrahim Altine, a resident, told journalists that the ‘gunmen attacked the mosque while the imam was delivering the sermon and took away more than 30 people, including the imam, after shooting dead five worshippers’.
