Child Marriage is defined as a marriage of a girl or boy before the age of 18 and refers to both formal marriages and informal unions in which children under the age of 18 live with a partner as if married.
Almost one in five girls (17%) are married before the age of 15. Early marriage is a marriage or similar union, formal or informal, entered into by a child or youth under a certain age, typically age eighteen. Child marriage violates the rights of children and has widespread and long term consequences for child brides and grooms.-Wikipedia
This is common mostly among the northerners and eastern. They give their children out at a very young age and most of them die early through childbirth due to the act that most of them are not yet developed. They are betrothed from childbirth I am not supporting late marriages too but let’s be decent enough and not sell out our daughters before they are fully grown
Early marriage is driven by poverty and has many effects on girls’ health: increased risk for sexually transmitted diseases, cervical cancer, malaria, death during childbirth, and obstetric fistulas. Girls’ offspring are at increased risk for premature birth and death as neonates, infants, or children.
Young married couples are usually still studying or do not have much education. Thus, they depend on their parents for financial loans and emotional support. In summary, getting married early has many disadvantages such as less knowledge about parenting, less time enjoying their youth and more financial difficulties.
