Native Doctors On The Run As Security Operatives Raid Nine Anambra Shrines Belonging To ‘Unknown Gun Men’

Security forces in Anambra State are said to have stormed nine camps in the Anambra South Senatorial District belonging to ‘unknown gunmen.’

The joint task team on security in the state also searched nine shrines frequented by hoodlums for oath-taking. Natives who acted as hoodlum informants were also detained and made useful statements, according to a police source.

Aguluezechukwu in Aguata Local Government Area, Ebenato community in Nnewi South LGA, Ezinifite village in Nnewi South LGA, and Ichi in Ekwusigo LGA were among the places raided by the task team.

In the Nnewi South and Ihiala LGAs, other locations include parts of Osumoghu, Lilu, and some parts of Ukpor. Most native doctors had fled their houses, according to the source, because some of their colleagues who had been detained were disclosing identities of individuals involved in homicides and kidnappings throughout the state.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra Police Public Relations Officer, said it was too early to start counting wins in the state’s battle on terror.
