Eha-Amufu, a tranquil farming village in Enugu State’s Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, has been plunged into grief as a result of a series of brutal attacks by Fulani herders that have decimated families and abandoned homes.

Residents claim their town has been under siege for three days straight, from Friday, January 31, to Sunday, February 2, 2025. According to eyewitnesses, the attacks follow a disturbing pattern: a helicopter soars overhead, followed by waves of armed men who terrorize the population. The aftermath is always the same: lives are lost, houses are burned, and survivors are left grieving.
A resident told Igbo History that the situation has been a constant nightmare since last Friday.

The attacks begin after the aircraft passes, and we hear gunfire and calls for aid. The military then appears, bringing away the wounded and dead. We can not comprehend why this is happening to us.” According to him, the recent incident has claimed the lives of at least ten persons.

Such tragedies are nothing new for the residents of Eha-Amufu. In December 2024, three farmers were slain in a similar attack in Mgbuji, one of Eha-Amufu’s settlements. Crops intended to feed families were destroyed, leaving many in despair. The losses included not just human lives, but also livelihoods that had been built over the years.
