The Spokesperson of Ebonyi Police Command, DSP Loveth Odah, in a press release Thursday, accused members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of razing down a Divisional Police Headquarters in Onicha local government area, Ebonyi State; adding that four (4) patrol vehicles were also burnt.

The statement reads: “Today being February 5, 2021 at 0325hrs hoodlums suspected to be members of the ‘proscribed’ (sic) Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), attacked Onicha Divisional Police Headquarters, Isu, in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State, set ablaze the left wing of the division and four (4) patrol vehicles.”

Odah revealed that, “one policeman sustained machete cut injuries during the attack and he is responding to treatment in the hospital”. However, there has not been any case of death.

The commissioner of police (CP) Ebonyi state, Aliyu Garba, accessed the area of incidence. He reached out to stakeholders in the community, seeking ways on how the investigation would be carried out.

The CP further assured the general public of his commitments to protecting lives and property; also urged the public to remain law abiding as normalcy would totally return to the area.
