Dr Ruth Westheimer, a renowned sex therapist and talk show host who openly discussed sex and private matters, died on Friday at the age of 96. Her spokesperson reported her death to BBC News partner CBS News without revealing the cause. Ruth Westheimer, often known as Dr Ruth, rose to prominence as a pop culture phenomenon and best-selling author of books such as “Sex for Dummies” by freely discussing sex. She advocated for honest, nonjudgmental conversations about sex.
Dr. Ruth frequently appeared on talk shows such as The Howard Stern Radio Show, The Dr. Oz Show, Nightline, The Tonight Show, and Late Night with David Letterman. Last November, New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared that Dr Ruth will be the state’s honorary ambassador for loneliness. “I am deeply honoured and promised the governor that I will work day and night to help New Yorkers feel less lonely!” Dr. Ruth stated at the time.
