Because derilium reveals a change in the mental status of a person, sudden confusion about time and often about place (where they are) may be an early sign of same. If delirium is severe, people may not know who they or other people are. Thinking becomes confused, and people with delirium have unstable level of awareness (consciousness).

Futhermore, derilium is a sign of illness or stress on the body and mind, so if a person become derilious, it is important to identify the underlying problems such as infection or untreated pain and correct them.

It is easy to detect derilium, since a confused person is at a higher risk of falls and injuries during the period of derilium. Symptoms include: anxiety, hallucinations, rambling, sudden change in emotions, et cetera.

Consequently, derilium can also be traced to contributory factors such as alcohol or illegal drug toxicity, medical stress (surgery and anesthesia), changes in the environment, lack of oxygen in your tisssue pain, dehydration, sleep deprivation, infection, metabolic imbalances; other serious medical illness such as heart attack, stroke , kidney failure and more.

One may ask if derilium deteriorates memory. Well, the answer is ‘no’. A similar health challenge known as ‘dementia’ does trigger memory loss; while derilium affects attention. The former is typically caused by anatomic changes in the brain; whereas, the latter [delirium] is typically caused by acute illness or drug intoxication that may be life threatening.

Be that as it may, someone could be affected by derilium and dementia, at once. It is advisable to commence treatment or preventive measures once you notice any change in your mental status.

  5. Take a walk everyday, or at least get out of bed and sit on a chair.
