Oyo state police command on Wednesday released the three detained Odua People Congress (OPC)

The three members of OPC whose names are Dauda Kazeem, Awodele Adedigba and Ramon Hassan, were detained on Sunday, following the handing over of the notorious kidnapper, Abdullah Iskilu Wakili, to the police.

Wakili was captured with three others in Igangan after several attempt.

However, shortly after the release, Aareonakakan of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi said the detention of the three gallant men became a public issue because of the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the detention of our members as well as the notorious kidnapper.

He said, he was overwhelmed that the OPC members had regained their freedom from police custody, and was entirely grateful to all who stood against the illegal detention of the members of OPC.

He appreciated: “Well meaning Nigerians, public opinion experts, socio-cultural group such as Afenifere, Yoruba Summit Group (YSG), and the media for their support while the situation last, and I want to assure Nigerians that the OPC will continue to support and complement the effort of all security agencies, including the police in ensuring that South West is safe.”
