Most residents in Ebonyi State welcomes the sit-at-home order, as few movements of human and vehicles were noticed in the State capital Abakiliki.

Despite the governors threat to deal with business owners and bank operators for failure to go to their duty post, some residents honored the exercise, noting that they want the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB.

While others said that the sit-at-home has affected their source of their livelihood and should be discontinued.

Obinwannem correspondent who visited major operational centres for business activities and interviewed some persons noted that most people are in support of the sit-at-home as a priority to demand for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

A resident said, “Sit-at-home is a welcome idea, to everyone who loves Igbos, it is worth doing, we are doing it for people to know that his people still loves him (Kanu). It is for the betterment of Igbos and for the welfare of all Igbos. As it stands he is dying for us, and we are suppose to support him at this critical time, we want to see him alive. My business is not affected, as i am ready to sacrifice a day for his release”.

Another resident, opined that a lot of people could not go out because of security, for fear of unknown gunmen and IPOB, adding that many businesses are being affected which might cripple the economy.

He however urged the government to attend to the needs of the people, and release Nnamdi Kanu.

A trader in Ebonyi International Market, who also supported the sit-at-home said, “As you can see there are only few sellers in the market, everywhere is dry. I support the sit-at-home, we want the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the only truthful leader in Southeast, I just came to attend to some issues, I will be leaving here briefly to my home to continue the exercise “, he said.
