The proposed protest slated for June 12, met its waterloo as demonstrators were dispersed by personnels of the Nigeria Police Force FCT command, who fired tear gas canisters at the protesters.

The protest took off at about 8:30am in Gudu. The protesters, mostly youth, turned out in their numbers, expressing dissatisfaction with the state of affairs of the nation.

The protesters chanted slogans, such as “Buhari must go,” “Say no to injustice,” “stop the killings,” amongst others. The protesters scampered for safety when security operatives started firing tear gas at the demonstrators.

According to information gathered by Obinwannem
News, similar demonstration were scheduled in Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo, but protesters were also assaulted by security operatives.

Meanwhile,a crop of pro-Buhari supporters also also held solidarity rally at the popular Unity Fountain in Abuja, to show support for the president.

The Pro Buhari supporters did converge at Millennium Park, opposite the Unity Fountain, with the placards that included “I stand with Buhari”.

The pro-Buhari supporters, was out to counter those protesting against bad governance across the country.

An eyewitness revealed that, the leader of the group where seen in a heated exchange over the sharing of monetary, resources meant for organizing the counter protest.
