Dangote Refinery Sets Record Straight on Crude Supply Dispute

Refinery Clarifies Crude Supply Dispute, Points Finger at NUPRC

The Dangote Refinery has clarified its position on the crude supply dispute, stating that it has never accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) of failing to supply it with crude oil.

In a statement, the refinery said its concern has always been with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and its reluctance to enforce the domestic crude supply obligation. The refinery claimed that NUPRC has failed to ensure that it receives its full crude requirement from NNPC and the International Oil Companies (IOCs).

The Dangote Refinery emphasized that it has always maintained a good relationship with NNPC and has never questioned the company’s commitment to supplying crude oil. However, the refinery expressed frustration with NUPRC’s inability to enforce the regulations, which has resulted in a shortage of crude supply.

The refinery’s statement comes amidst reports of a dispute between Dangote Refinery and NNPC over crude supply. However, the refinery has now set the record straight, saying that its issue lies with NUPRC’s regulatory failures, not with NNPC’s supply commitments.

The development has sparked calls for NUPRC to take immediate action to address the crude supply shortage and ensure that Dangote Refinery receives its full allocation. Industry stakeholders have also urged the regulatory agency to enforce the domestic crude supply obligation to avoid further disruptions in the petroleum sector.
