Following Australia’s four-wicket defeat to the South Asians in the semi-final, skipper Steve Smith refrained from commenting on India’s Dubai advantage in the Champions Trophy. India was excluded from the ODI competition due to their refusal to participate in host nation Pakistan.

India won their fourth consecutive semi-final in Dubai. Their next opponent, either South Africa or New Zealand, will have to travel to the Emirate following the second semi-final in Lahore on Wednesday. When asked about India’s edge, Smith said he wasn’t “buying into it,” although he did note that the Dubai wicket suited their game. “India obviously played some really good cricket here,” Smith said at the post-match press conference.

“The surface suits their style with the spinners and seamers that they have available on a pitch like that. “They played well, they outplayed us and they deserve the victory.” “First of all, this is as neutral a venue for us as it is for any other team,” he explained to the press. “What undue advantage? We haven’t practiced here for even a day. We are practising at the ICC Academy. “Look at the wickets there and here; the difference is between the ground and the sky.” Some individuals are simply constant cribbers, man.

“They’ve got to grow up.” While one-day world champions Australia recorded a competitive 264 all out after winning the toss, their weakened bowling team was unable to prevent Virat Kohli from leading India’s successful chase. Smith admitted that reaching 300 might have made a difference against India, but his team’s relative inexperience may have cost them.

However, he lauded the squad’s raw players for showing up and performing a “really good job”. “They’re going to be better for the exposure to a big event and playing against world-class players like the ones we came up against today and throughout the tournament,” the coach said.
