The American fast-food chain issued an apology for a racist sign put up by one of its restaurants in the Guangzhou city of China saying black people are not allowed in the establishment.

The shocking video of the notice had gone viral online and attracted a major backlash from people all over the world.

McDonald’s issued a statement saying; the sign is “not representative of our inclusive values,”

”Immediately upon learning of an unauthorized communication to our guests at a restaurant in Guangzhou, we immediately removed the communication and temporarily closed the restaurant,” the statement read.

There have been several cases of abuse and discrimination by the Chinese targeted at Africans in the Southern city of China, many have been forcefully removed from their homes by the police, banned from lodging in hotels and from entering shops and restaurants, Africans were forced to undergo mass testing repeatedly and forced into quarantines without cause.

Ambassadors and envoys from over have met with the 20 African countries have made contact with Chinese Authorities to discuss the issue with a view to resolving it.

There are around 5,000 African nationals living in the city.
