A report on Caregivers International Corporation’s visit to the Permanent Secretary for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, JAAC Building, Ogurube New Layout, Umuahia, on June 13th, 2025.
The meeting lasted around 20 minutes because the permanent secretary, Lady Oge Maduka, ESQ*, mistakenly thought she had a new appointment with Caregivers International Corporation.
Remember that on May 2nd, 2025, Caregivers International Corporation met with the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, as well as the 17 local government mayors. Where she (the permanent secretary) also attended the meeting. After realizing this, she proposed the following ideas.
(A) Proper documentation of poor persons visited in the various LGAs be completed for record purposes.
(B) That letters of reminder be produced for mayors of local governments who have yet to be visited.
(C) The C.I.C. should continue to raise awareness and advocate for its vision, purpose, and core mandate.
Mrs. Nkem Eke, the CIC spokesperson, briefed the permanent secretary on the CIC’s actions in Abia State thus far. The PS acknowledged and stated that the government is aware through the LGAs.
The permanent secretary recommended CIC reach out to well-meaning individuals, in addition to government and even foreign organizations, to tap into CIC’s mission and vision in order to reach more indigents on a larger and broader scale.
