British High Commission decides to meet Kanu in Dentention

Following the court order permitting persons to gain acess to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, the British High Commission in Nigeria wants to make use of the opportunity to meet him in the Department of State Services custody in Abuja.

This was made known by Kanu’s Lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor who confirms that the officials are making frantic efforts to take advantage of the recent court order to reach out to Kanu in DSS custody.

Ejimakor who spoke with Daily Post on Tuesday said that commission made the latest move after diplomatic channels failed.

Ejimakor said, “The British High Commission wants to see Nnamdi Kanu since the diplomatic channels were blocked. The court gave an omnibus order which is not restricted to lawyers only. It’s open to relatives and friends, you can even go and see him if you stand behind him. I can take you there.

“The British High Commission had a conversation with me this morning and they intend to see him through an escalation method and not through request or consular assistance or diplomatic privileges. They want to see him standing behind the order, they want to take advantage of the court order to see him

“The court order has opened door beyond the province of lawyer only. I have no issues seeing him, i see him every two days until about ten days ago when DSS faulted. This led to the application that brought about the court order. Before now seeing Kanu was prescriptionary that is, it’s up to DSS, but now the court order has opened him up, so now they want to stand behind the court order to gain access to him”.

Meanwhile, Kanu has being in DSS custody since rearrest and reptratriation from Kenya, since June. The court hearing on the case scheduled on the 26th July, was adjourned to October due to failure of secret police to produce Kanu.
