Breaking News: PDP Alleges APC Importing Thugs from Imo, Kogi for Edo Governorship Election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made a shocking allegation against the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that the party has imported thugs from Imo and Kogi states, dressing them in fake police and military uniforms to disrupt the upcoming governorship election in Edo State.
Debo Ologunagba, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement urging the people of Edo State to defend themselves against these fake security personnel, who allegedly plan to abduct innocent citizens, snatch ballot boxes, and disrupt the election. Ologunagba emphasized that the PDP stands for peace but will use democratic resistance to protect the will of the people.
“The PDP’s directive is further predicated on alleged plans by the APC to garb its thugs allegedly imported from Imo and Kogi States with fake police and military uniforms to infiltrate the security agencies and unleash violence on innocent citizens before and on election day,” Ologunagba stated.
The PDP has called on the Inspector General of Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide designated identification badges to security personnel to prevent infiltration. The party demands INEC ensure the credibility of the election by insulating itself from APC’s manipulations.
Additionally, the PDP directs its polling agents to be vigilant, inspect INEC’s Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), and ensure results are transmitted directly to INEC Portal. “They should ensure that all results are immediately and directly transmitted to INEC Portal and send copies of such results to the PDP Election Situation Room for documentation,” Ologunagba added.
Ologunagba warned that any APC thug attempting to cause chaos or snatch ballot boxes will face the wrath of the people and the law. “Our Party and the people of Edo State have worked hard for this election and will stop at nothing to ensure that nobody undermines the Will of the people at the poll.”
The PDP’s allegations come amidst growing tensions ahead of the Edo State governorship election. The party has urged the people of Edo State to come out en masse to cast their votes on Saturday, ensuring that nobody undermines the will of the people.
As the election approaches, concerns about electoral violence and manipulation remain high. The PDP’s call to action seeks to empower citizens to protect their democratic rights and ensure a peaceful, credible election.
INEC and security agencies face increased pressure to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. With the PDP poised for victory, the stage is set for a highly contested election that will shape Edo State’s future.
