The Government of Anambra State ordered the closure, and withdrawal of approval of Royal Ambassadors School in Onitsha for “disobeying” covid-19 preventive measures.
This was released in a statement Thursday by permanent secretary, Minister of Basic Education, Dr Christy Obiano, who said closing the school, would serve as a lesson to others.
The authorities had announced that students would not be allowed in school until Feb 1, for safety reasons. However, the Royal Ambassadors School reportedly resumed on January 18, against the directives.
The government also said it was withdrawing the school’s licence.
“The ministry of Basic Education wishes to announce the closure and withdrawal of approval of the royal Ambassadors schools at onitsha for Violating the governments resumption directives.
“Students and pupils of the schools were also seen without face masks,on Monday, January 18, recieving lessons against government directives.
“The schools fragrant disobedience to government directives can endager the lives of children,and it is not in the best interest of education in the state.
“Parents are,however advised to withdraw their children from the schools,the school remain closed,” she said.
