Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has decried attacks on cattle herders in Anambra state; alleging the loss of 30 herdsmen, and 322 cattles.
A letter written by the South Eastern Zone chapter of MACBAN to the deputy Inspector of Police E- Department, Force Headquarters, said the attacks have resulted in many casualties, both in terms of the Fulani herdsmen killed and their rustled cattle.
However, MACBAN called for immediate intervention for the safety of the fulani herdsmen in Anambra. It expressed increasing violence against herdsmen around Ayamelum, Anambra East, Orumba South, Dunukofia LGA’s.
Part of the letter reads, “The lives of members of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria are in danger in any part of these concerned communities already stated above. (And) we therefore ask for your urgent intervention to forestall further loss of lives and properties.”
The letter was signed by Mr Gidado Siddiki, chairman of MACBAN South East Zone. He implied that 30 Fulani herdsmen and 322 Cattle were missing.
