Following the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB to demand the unconditional release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, Anambra State Government had cautioned its workers to be present in their line of duty, or lose August salary.

A public announcement was issued by the Head of Service (HOD), Barry Harry Oduh on Sunday.

He urged workers to ignore IPOB’s sit-at-home order and carry out their duties to avoid non payment of August, while ordering Commissioners and permanent Secretaries to monitor and give accounts of the situation.

The statement reads:

“The Government of Anambra State has directed that all workers in the state must attand to their duties on Monday 9th, August, as failure to do so will result in severe sanctions including loss of salary for the Month of August.

“All Hon. Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries are to report compliance please. Kindly give this information the widest publicity in your establishment”.

Subsequently, for the past one month, the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB had been announcing of the proposed sit-at-home order which will hold every Monday, until their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been in detention by the Department of State Service, DSS is eventually released.
