Anambra 2021: Group kicks against Soludo’s Governorship ticket urge INEC to disqualify him

Obinwannem News Anambra 2021: Group kicks against Soludo's Governorship ticket urge INEC to disqualify him

The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn by a pro-democracy group, Anambra Restoration Movement (ARM) to exclude the name of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from the governorship election s slated for November 6 in Anambra State.

The group has further called on the federal government to arrest and prosecute the former CBN governor over allegations of fraud while in office.

The position of the group was made public by Uguru Onyebuchi and Goodness Chioma, National Coordinator and Publicity Secretary of the group, respectively, at a rally in INEC Headquarters.

According to them, the people of Anambra State cannot risk having Soludo as their governor without accounting for his deeds as CBN governor.

The group said under Soludo as CBN governor, Nigeria’s economy and the banking sector was not well managed.
The group said: ‘We believe that our people back home will continue to suffer unless we speak out and insist on the election of a trustworthy, selfless and credible person as Governor of Anambra State in the immediate next dispensation.

‘Before INEC publishes the final list of candidates for Anambra Governorship Election on October 7, 2021, we make haste to demand that the name of Professor Charles Soludo should, by all means, be excluded.
‘It is obvious that the candidature of the man called Soludo was rejected at various stages of the legal tussles both by the gods and indigenes of Anambra State. Yet he kept struggling to impose himself on our people for purely ulterior and personal motives.

‘The mismanagement of the banking sector, unfettered level of margin loans coupled with the modus operandi of the banking consolidation exercise under Soludo as CBN Governor should indeed be classified as criminal negligence for which sanctions may lie. We are convinced just like other prominent stakeholders in Anambra State that the huge funds deployed by Soludo so far in his attempt to cling to the APGA governorship ticket show that he is out to seek immunity from prosecution for the crimes committed whilst serving as CBN Governor.

”As an unstable politician that he is, we have watched Prof Charles Soludo move from PDP to APC, which is largely the party for Igbo people’.
