Obinwannem News A Mother And Child Lost Their Lives In Abeokuta Tanker Explosion Yesterday

The Premium Motor Spirit PMS tanker explosion which occurred in the popular Lafenwa market in Abeokuta North Local government area of the state capital, in the early hours of Sunday November 28 is yet another tanker explosion one but too many.

Some few days back another tanker explosion was recorded in the Ogere axis of Lagos Ibadan express way in which not fewer than five lives were lost to the inferno according to report.

Both the Lafenwa market fire outbreak and that of Ogere have been attributed to failed portion of the respective roads.

However, during the Sunday fire outbreak at Lafenwa market in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, human casualties were also recorded in the aftermath of the explosion.

Sadly, among these casualties are bodies which are identified as that of a mother and her child who were caught up in the inferno.

It was reliably gathered that both the mother and her child who were caught up in the inferno were both sleeping in their shop few meters away from the scene of the accident.

To those who are familiar to the environment where these shops and other valuables have been destroyed in the market, will surely know that the shop where the mother and her child who died in the inferno were sleeping, was a series of makeshift shop and for the two of them to have been sleeping in there when the accident occurred, suggested that the woman and her daughter could have been living in this shop of hers over a period of time.

A call to those who are concerned with the construction of the popular Lafenwa market road especially at the rail crossing, where the driver of the tanker lost the control of the truck, due to an axle problem while manouvering the failed portion of the road, should kindly endeavor to do the needful in order not to allow a repeat of such a fire incident.
