Not less than 70 Nigerian migrants has been intercepted and arrested by the immigration authorities of the country for entering through illegal routes.
Ghana immigration service reportedly intercepted fifty one of them at the Asikuma border on Feb 3, while 19 others were captured at the Ho main lorry station on Feb 9, as they were preparing to travel to Accra.
Meanwhile, Peter Clava, the regional commander at a press conference revealed that the migrants were able to enter Ghana border through the help of transport syndicates.
“What is happening is that our brothers from Nigeria, use transport syndicates. They carry Nigerians across Benin Togo, and dump them at the Ghana-Togo border and ask them to find their ways and means to enter Ghana ” He said.
“Be that as it may, that is how the okada (motorcycle) boys, find business,they are transported through this unapproved routes into Ghana”
According to Nantuo, the illegal migrants hire large bus that transport them to bring them into the capital, However, he assured the general public that the regional commander would be on high alert and would ensure they are intercepted.
He further said they discovered Ghana to be a fertile ground for cyber fraud, “we will not tolerate that,” he said, and revealed that the illegal immigrants , would be quarrantined for 14days, after investigation they would either deported or prosecuted as the case me be.
