The Federal government of Nigeria has threatened to deal with those that attacked the Nigerian embassy over failure to address the unjust deaths of Nigerians in Indonesia.
Videos circulating on social media showed over hundred angry Nigerian youths attacked the Embassy in Indonesia in protest for negligence of the nation’s diplomatic office over the deaths of Nigerians in the country.
The protest came shortly after a young man from Uli Anambra state, died out of fear of being arrested by the Indonesian immigration authorities.
As was seen in a viral video, the young man was trying to escape arrest by jumping through the window of the ninth floor of a building in northern Jakarta, Indonesia.
Following this incident, some Nigerians on Thursday during the protest, resorted to destroying properties inside the embassy as footage monitored by Obinwannem News affirmed the authenticity of the report of the attack.
According to the report made available to our correspondent, an angry group of Nigerians invaded the Embassy, pulled down the Nigerian flag, broke the windows, and destroyed some other valuables as some chanted ”Enough is Enough”, Nigeria can’t help us in this country”, ”Nigerians don’t have Embassy ”, ”Burn Nigeria flags”.
Meanwhile, minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has reacted on the incident describing the act of the protesters as criminality, saying the attack on the embassy was unfair, he also started that those behind the protest will be fished out and dealt with.
Geoffrey Onyeama tweeted; “Their act is deplorable, disgraceful criminal behaviour by Nigerian hooligans who without justification attacked the Nigerian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia today,” he said in a tweet.
“Every effort will be made to identify them and see they are severely punished. Totally unacceptable behaviour.”
