Following the Coronavirus tests conducted on Monday at the within members of the Imo State House of Assembly, Obinwannem news gathered that 13 members of Imo Assembly out of 40 have being tested positive for the virus.

Emeka Ahaneku the Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker has expressed worries over the rapid rise of the numbers, stressing that only three members test positive, He further stated that staffs and members, had undergone test on Monday, but turned out negative.

In his words:

“It is true that there are incidences of COVID -19 in the House but they are not up to five. The number of people is quoting is outrageous.

“A lot of staff and members were tested on Monday and results are yet to be released. So I don’t know where they are getting the number they are quoting” he said.

However, he said those who tested positive have been moved to the Isolation Centre in Owerri.

The Secretary to the Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Austin Okeji when contacted to make comment on the issue he ignored, saying only the Health Commissioner could speak on the matter, except the commissioner assigns me to speak.”
